Hong Kong 7s - Rugby Event

After a long and rainy day at Disney with Ethan (see below pics), Jeff and I were off to the largest live sporting event in Hong Kong, the HK Sevens.  In most people's opinions, the HK Sevens is just a social event more than a true sporting event. It's a scaled down version of the game - 7 players in 2 - 7 minute halfs (now you know where it gets it's name!). Rugby teams select their tournament teams to come and play in this 3 day event. These teams are from all over the world and both Mens and Womens leagues are invited to participate.  The spectators come dressed in crazy costumes and drink WAY TOO much but in seems to be all in good fun! We saw many teams play but of course, our favorite was the USA Men's team. They started out well but were eventually clobbered by the Scotland Team. Yea, well, if this was the NFL things might have turned out different but for now a big "L" sits in our column in this sport. Jeff said he figured it out  - Rugby is just a game of Competitive Attack Hot Potato! ha   A very facinating sport, event, and crowd that I just couldn't miss seeing while we're here!

Below is a link to the official HK Sevens site that will give you more details of the history this event if you are interested:

Two thumbs up on this experience - we'll look forward to it again next March!!
