Valentine's Day in Hong Kong

I don't have any fun pictures for this post, but if I couldv'e figured out a way to take a picture of all of the Chinese women carrying around the flower bouquets today, I sure would have done it! Apparently, they start the day with a small bouquet that the girl is meant to carry around all day. As the day progresses, they add flowers to the bouquet. It's quite the "pomp and circumstance" here and we were told by a local that it's the one opportunity that most Chinese (which is 90% of HK) couples go out on their own. Most of them live with their families in small apartments (like 500-700 sq ft) so this is a chance to go out and spend a little time and money on your girl. Apparently, Discovery Bay is quite the "romantic" place to go on this festive holiday as our population grew this weekend! The restaurants were booked and the beach was very crowded to see the fireworks from HK Disney.
For a more personal account of today, Jeff played basketball this morning and then I left for a shopping trip in Stanley (I'll never buy in the States again!). Jeff and Ethan attended their first Swim Play group this morning and Jeff said they really enjoyed it. I was back in Dbay by 4:00 and the boys picked me up at the ferry pier. Jeff, Ethan and I had a lasagna dinner at home later that evening, then afterwards we put Ethan to bed. Janice stayed inside tonight to "sit" for Ethan while Jeff and I enjoyed a few drinks and each others company in the plaza. We've had a wonderful mix of personal time, time together as a family, and time together as husband and wife. Who could ask for anything more!
